Instagram's Link Page vs a Link-in-Bio Tool: What Each Gives You
Instagram now offers a native link page with up to 20 links on Meta One. Compare it fairly with a dedicated link-in-bio page on cost, analytics and control.
Instagram now has its own link page. Since Meta launched its Meta One subscriptions in September 2026, eligible subscribers can add up to 20 links to their Instagram bio, each with a title and an image, on a page with its own URL. For the first time, the platform where most people put a "link in bio" sells a version of that page itself.
If you use a separate link-in-bio tool, you may wonder whether you still need it. This guide compares the two. The Meta details below come from Meta's own pages as of October 2026. Some pages disagree, and we point out those conflicts where they matter.
What Instagram's link page is
According to Meta's help article on adding links to your Instagram bio, as of October 2026:
- Without a subscription, you can add up to five links to your bio.
- With Meta One, you can add up to 20 links and give each one an image and a title.
- The link page has its own URL, so Meta says you can send people to it "from anywhere, not just from your Instagram bio."
- You can set a primary link, the one you want people to see first. You need at least two links to do this.
- Links appear in the order you add them.
- It works on the Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max plans. Teens can't use it.
- Links must follow Meta's Community Standards and Terms of Use.
You manage it inside the Instagram app: Edit profile, then Links, then Add link. There is a Link page tab with a preview.
Meta leaves one point unclear. Meta's plans page lists "a shareable link page to your Instagram bio with up to 20 links" as a Meta One Essential benefit. The help article does not say clearly whether accounts without a subscription get the same shareable page for their five links. If that matters to you, check in your own app.
What it costs, and where it's available
Meta's September 15, 2026 announcement lists the business and creator plans as Essential "starting at $14.99/mo", Advanced from $49.99, Expert from $149 and Max from $499. The same post says "plans, benefits, pricing, and availability may vary by region, by app, and by account." Your final price may differ from these starting figures.
Availability is where Meta's own pages conflict, as of October 2026:
- The announcement says "Meta One plans are now available globally" and also that they "are rolling out gradually."
- The plans help page says "Meta One is currently in limited testing and isn't available everywhere yet."
We can't tell you which statement applies to your account. Meta's announcement says to start the subscription process to see which features are available to you.
The link page is one benefit in a bundle. The plans page lists Essential with a verified badge, impersonation protection, an enhanced Facebook linksheet and more AI usage alongside the 20-link page. If you want those other benefits anyway, the link page comes along with them.
Side by side
This table compares what Meta documents for its link page with what ManyLinks offers. "Not documented" means we could not find it on Meta's pages as of October 2026. It does not mean the feature is definitely missing.

Who Instagram's native link page suits
A native page fits these situations:
- Instagram is your main channel and your list is short. If you have a handful of destinations, the free five links may already be enough. Our guide on putting multiple links in your Instagram bio covers that setup.
- You already pay for Meta One. If you subscribe for the verified badge, impersonation protection or the scheduling and insights features in higher tiers, the 20-link page costs you nothing extra.
- You want one less tool. Editing your links in the same app where you post means one fewer login and one fewer service to keep track of.
- You want images on each link without designing a page. Meta's version gives every link a title and image with very little setup.
Who a dedicated link-in-bio page suits
You want to see what gets clicked
Meta's link page article doesn't mention analytics. A dedicated tool is the more reliable choice today if you need to know which links people use.
On ManyLinks, the free plan includes an analytics dashboard covering the last 30 days. It shows page views, clicks, and breakdowns by referrer, country, device, browser and language. When the visitor's app passes referrer information, Instagram traffic is grouped as its own source, including visits through Instagram's link redirect. Pro adds unlimited history, per-link drill-downs and UTM campaign reports, so you can tell a story link from a bio link. See our analytics guide and UTM guide for how to read them.
You share the same page beyond Instagram
Meta's page has its own URL, so you can share it elsewhere. But it's tied to an Instagram account, and links beyond five require a Meta subscription. A dedicated page doesn't depend on any one platform account. You can put the same ManyLinks URL in your TikTok, YouTube and email signature, and the free plan includes a QR code for your page for print.
You want more than a list of links
ManyLinks pages are a grid of blocks in different sizes. Besides links, you can add images, text, titles and maps. Social blocks for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube can show profile details, follower counts and recent posts where the platform makes them available, and Spotify blocks show the track, album or podcast you link. That data is cached and refreshed every 7 days on Free and every 24 hours on Pro, so it isn't live to the minute. Our post on whether link-in-bio widgets are worth it covers the trade-offs.
You need links that turn on and off by themselves
For a launch or a sale, Pro lets you schedule a link to appear at a set time and expire at another. Pro also supports password-protected links. Meta's link page article does not document either. The password-protected links guide shows how these work.
You want your own domain
ManyLinks Pro can serve your page on a domain you own, such as links.yourname.com. If you later change tools, the address you printed or shared stays yours. See link in bio with a custom domain.
You'd rather not tie your link list to a subscription
Links six to 20 depend on an active Meta One plan. We could not find Meta documentation, as of October 2026, on what happens to those extra links if a subscription ends. If you choose the native page, check this with Meta before you build your bio around it.
You can use both
The two options aren't exclusive. A ManyLinks page is just a URL, so you can:
- Keep Instagram's free five links for your most important destinations.
- Add your ManyLinks page as one of them for everything else, with analytics.
- Or, if you're a Meta One subscriber, include your ManyLinks page among your 20 links and make it the primary link.
How to decide
Ask yourself four questions:
- Do I need to know what gets clicked? If yes, use a page with documented analytics.
- Do I share my links outside Instagram? If often, a platform-independent page is easier to manage.
- Am I paying for Meta One for other reasons? If yes, try the native page first. It may be enough.
- Do I need scheduling, a custom domain or richer blocks? Those are documented on ManyLinks Pro, not on Meta's link page.
ManyLinks has a free plan, and you can compare Free and Pro before paying for anything. Try both pages side by side before you commit to either. If you're also weighing other tools, our link-in-bio alternatives comparison covers the wider field.
